Villa Franka 1888

About the Villa

The year is 1888. Tilsit stands on the threshold of a new century, a city where technical progress meets spiritual searching. In a prestigious and quiet district, at the intersection of Koenigsbergerstrasse and Lindenstrasse, merchant Franz Frank builds a villa: not simply a house, but the embodiment of an entire era. The villa still keeps silent about its original design.

Many call it the “Pastor’s House”

What lies behind this name is something the villa reveals only to those who enter. Its fate is remarkable: it passed through decades, changed names and purposes, yet always preserved the stories of those who lived under its roof. Behind the richly decorated facade, there are far more mysteries than one can see at first glance.

Today, Villa Franka is a cultural heritage site

of the Kaliningrad Region and a historical space open to guests. What awaits behind the villa’s doors is something you will discover when you cross the threshold. Here, the past is not merely told, it is lived: in preserved interiors, in objects with a history, in the quiet of rooms where time seems to slow its pace.

We invite you inside.
The House of an Era is waiting for you.

Franz Frank

Franz Frank was a successful merchant and public figure, and the firm J.L. Frank was a family business founded by his father, Johann Ludwig Frank. We know little about Franz, and his photographs and portraits have been lost forever.

We filled this gap with an artistic image: now Franz Frank has come to life to greet you at the villa’s threshold. Through his story, you will move into the everyday life of Tilsit and discover how its respectable residents lived, built and dreamed at the turn of the 20th century.

Touch a past that no longer exists. It is waiting for you.

Absolutely wonderful! A very beautiful villa, a well-kept surrounding area, and probably one of the most attractive buildings in the region. There are a few similar villas in Amalienau as well.

Villa Franka, or the Pastor’s House, is one of the most beautiful historic buildings in the city: a richly decorated two-story mansion with a mansard roof and a small tower, built at the end of the 19th century.

Beautiful. Stately. Restored, and now it has taken its rightful place in the city’s architecture. The main thing is not to stop, because there are nearby buildings that also need care.

Villa Franka is a cultural heritage site, formerly the private home of Tilsit merchant Franz Frank. The building’s interior, beautiful stucco and bright facade preserve the original style.
